The National Inquiry into Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls will be making a stop in Saskatoon today (Wed.) to visit with families who have lost a loved one or know someone still missing.

This visit coincides with a community hearing slated for the week of November 20th. The commissioners will ask about the underlying historical, social, economic, institutional and cultural factors that contribute to violence against Indigenous women and girls. They have been asked to recommend concrete actions to remove systemic causes of violence and increase the safety of Indigenous women and girls in Canada and recommend ways to honour and commemorate missing and murdered Indigenous women and girls. The commission has to complete its mandate by December 31, 2018.
