MNBC Message from President Bruce Dumont
On behalf of the MNBC leadership and staff, I would like to express my concern for those in our Métis community who may be at risk of flooding due to the higher than normal river flows at this time of the year. Our thoughts and prayers go out to each Métis family living in the Northwest, North Central, and Lower Mainland Regions of the province where the threat of flooding from the Nechako, Skeena, and Fraser Rivers are the greatest.
I would urge everyone in our Métis communities who reside along these and other major river floodplains to obtain the very latest flooding emergency news by contacting the BC Flood Info Line at: 1-888-350-6070, or by going to the Provincial Emergency Program website at: www.pep.gov.bc.ca. The latest weather information is available from Environment Canada at: www.weatheroffice.com. MNBC has also placed these contact resources on our website.
Sincerely,
Bruce Dumont
President
Métis Nation British Columbia
