Mobile homes could be on way to community – The Chronicle Journal

An attempt was to be made Thursday to finally start bringing 10 mobile homes to Cat Lake First Nation by a winter ice road, to provide relief to residents affected by the remote reserve’s ongoing black-mould crisis.

A Manitoba-based contractor was expected to transport the homes on flatbed trucks along the 165-kilometre temporary road from Pickle Lake.

The journey was expected to take up to 10 hours because the trucks can’t go much faster than 20 kilometres per hour on the hilly route, which has been impacted by unusually mild temperatures, according to a worker who declined to be named.
