Justin Trudeau’s Liberals have won a plurality of seats in the 2019 federal election, setting the course for a minority government with him remaining as prime minister.

The result of the 43rd Canadian election is one of the closest in recent memory, with both the Liberals and Conservatives separated by just more than one percentage point in the popular vote and no party winning a majority of the House of Commons’ 338 seats.

As of 1:30 a.m. on Oct. 22, the Liberals are projected to win 156 seats, followed by the 122 for the Conservatives, who would form the Official Opposition.
