Multimedia show MALA begins June 21 – Government of NB
FREDERICTON (GNB) – The first showings of a high-tech, multimedia presentation that will be projected upon the legislative assembly will take place June 21 to July 1.
The show will also be presented on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights throughout July. The final showings will be Aug. 3-7.
The 30-minute presentation, entitled MALA, which means “where I’m from” in Mi’kmaq, will highlight New Brunswick’s history through stories of key people and events.
“New Brunswick played a key role in shaping our country,” said Tourism, Heritage and Culture Minister John Ames. “This presentation is a wonderfully entertaining and informative way to learn about key people and events.”
MALA was led by Dialogue New Brunswick. The provincial government committed $214,000 to support the Canada150 project, the federal government contributed $200,000 and the City of Fredericton provided $25,000.
The presentation showcases major cultural events, partners, characters and stories from New Brunswick’s history, focusing on the cultural diversity of First Nations, anglophones, francophones, and immigrants.
The multimedia show has the potential to bring significant tourism to the Fredericton region.
The public is encouraged to visit the Canada 150 NB website, Canada.ca/150 website, use the hashtag #NBProud, and follow @Canada150NB on social media and share why they are proud to be New Brunswickers. Individuals can also follow @Canada150 to learn more about the various activities happening in the province this year.
