HARBOURFRONT, TORONTO, Dec. 29 – The January 1st ride is the first leg in the bid for the Museum of Inuit Art Director and co-founder, David Harris, to ride the equivalent distance from Toronto, Ontario to Iqualuit, Nunavut (2350 km as the crow flies) by cycling daily in all weather conditions through the streets of Toronto from January through March, 2009.The primary goal of the 2,400 km ride is to kick start Toronto’s newest Museum’s first Annual Membership Drive and to raise awareness of this award-winning institution. This 2,400 km “WINTER RIDE” will culminate just in time to coincide with and commemorate the 10th anniversary of the founding of Nunavut.

Founded in 2007, the Museum of Inuit Art (MIA) is a non-profit organization, and is southern Canada’s only public museum devoted exclusively to Inuit art. MIA’s permanent display features an ongoing exhibition of hundreds of works of Inuit art, is situated at the Toronto Harboufront and has won a number of architectural awards since its opening in the historic Queen’s Quay Terminal building.
