Over the past couple of months, the name Sir John A Macdonald and the question of whether he should be revered or vilified have been widely discussed in the media, sparking numerous debates across the country in regards to one of Canada’s most important historical figures.

Commissioned by the NAC English Theatre for Canada’s 150^th, award-winning playwright and humorist Drew Hayden Taylor has created a timely new comedy centred on a daring heist that speaks to the question “Is my culture more important than yours?”.

Bobby Rabbit has some unfinished business with Canada’s first prime minister. His grandfather’s medicine bundle lies mouldering in a British museum, taken long ago from him at residential school. So Bobby enlists the help of his rock star wannabe friend Hugh, and a Queen’s University dropout named Anya, to secure a bargaining chip … and execute a heist so epic in scale none of them may ever see the light of day again.

Filled with humour and sorrow, this bittersweet sesquicentennial story is about finding life’s purpose, knowing when to hang on, and when to let go.

Joining Messrs Hayden Taylor and Millan in bringing this show to the stage are: Set and Costume Designer Anna Treusch; Lighting Designer Martin Conboy; Video Designer Nick Bottomley; Composer Moe Berg; Stage Manager Erin Finn; and Apprentice Stage Manager Hilary Nichol.
