New education money for Saugeen First Nations students – Shoreline Beacon

Students from Saugeen First Nation (SFN) returning to school to complete their Ontario Secondary School Diploma and study academic and career preparation at Georgian College in Owen Sound may have the cost of travel, lunch, books, parking, child care and specialized work-related clothing and essentials paid by an education fund set up by the Saugeen Cottagers’ Organization Incorporated (SCOI) and SFN, administered by Community Foundation Grey Bruce.

No students have applied for the grants for this school year as the program is only now being promoted by the SFN Band office according to Stuart Reid, Executive Director of Community Foundation Grey Bruce.

Reid said $3,500 is available as the first scholarship disbursements from the Foundation endowment fund of $100,000.
