Project helps Indigenous peoples gain valuable work experience
Aug 10, 2020
Indigenous residents of Clinton, B.C. will benefit from a new job creation partnership project just announced from the provincial government.
The 21-week project will enable Indigenous peoples in and around Clinton to gain valuable skills in trail building while providing the community with outdoor multi-use recreation spaces.
More than $75,000 has been provided by the B.C. government for the project, held in partnership with Stswecem’c Xgat’tem Development Corporation.
Four people will be given immediate employment, and the skills development and work experience needed to become trail crew professionals, as well as gaining skills transferable to forestry and fire-suppression occupations.
