New musical explores dreams of young Canadians

Free admission for Canada 150 Signature event from Prince Edward Island

Winnipeg – July 24, 2017 – Take hip hop, spoken word and folk music. Blend in contemporary and Indigenous dance, mix it with diverse young performers from across the country. The result is “The Dream Catchers,” a new musical full of original Canadian works that dares you to dream.

The Canadian Museum for Human Rights (CMHR) has partnered with Charlottetown’s Confederation Centre of the Arts to present this free, one-day only public performance on Wednesday afternoon. A Canada 150 Signature project, the show is a vibrant spectacle of music and dance that explores the dreams of young Canadians through a lens of reconciliation, inclusion and the environment.

WHERE: CMHR, Bonnie & John Buhler Hall (inside Main Entrance), 85 Israel Asper Way
COST: Free (gallery admission not included)

The Dream Catchers features new music, dance and story from City Natives, Emm Gryner, Kinnie Starr, Paper Lions, Khodi Dill, Fred Penner, Nikki Payne, Carmen Braden, Tiny Emperor, Daniel Maté, Riley Simpson-Fowler, Laakkuluk Willamson Bathory, Caroline Savoie and Twin Flames. The project is funded by the Government of Canada, produced by Confederation Centre of the Arts, featuring the TD Confederation Centre Young Company. The show is written by Mary Francis Moore, choreographed by Barbara Kaneratonni Diabo, with direction by ahdri zhina mandiela and musical direction by Scott Christian.
