Between April 18th and April 21st, 2019, 200 Indigenous youth from 32 First Nations communities across Turtle Island gathered in Winnipeg, Manitoba for the N’we Jinan Festival & Youth Conference. In collaboration with the Canadian Museum for Human Rights, the National Centre for Truth & Reconciliation, Taking It Global and several local partners, participants exchanged, shared, and celebrated their artistic talents, creations and accomplishments as one community. Our theme: I AM A FIREMAKER This is a collection of photos that brings you through all the special moments and festivities throughout the entire weekend. The goal of the N’we Jinan Festival & Youth Conference is to nurture a peer network of creative Indigenous youth, our professional working artists & teachers and our partners. Most importantly, the festival and conference is a place to further learn and celebrate the creative work of the incredible youth that have participated in our programming. All festival participants completed an N’we Jinan Integrative Arts program, Mikw Chiyâm Arts Concentration Program or have been part of the Mobile Production Studio program during the 2018/19 school year. Thank you for your continuous support of our initiatives. Because of you, these opportunities continue to manifest themselves into unforgettable experiences for our incredibly energized youth.
