The Independent Media Arts Alliance (IMAA), Canada’s national arts service organization representing over 12,000+ independent media artists via 80+ organizations, in collaboration with the Media Arts Network of Ontario (MANO) and CARFAC Ontario, is pleased to present ON.Fire 2010 National Conference + Festival will take place from June 15 to 19 in Toronto at the CBC’s Glenn Gould Studio. ALL ARE INVITED!In 2010, the Independent Media Arts Alliance (IMAA) marks its 30th year of service to independent media artists and organizations in Canada, and is celebrating this milestone by presenting ON.Fire 2010. This will be the first time in over 15 years that an IMAA national conference has been held in Toronto. Presenters include local, regional, national and international independent media artists (audio/film/video/new media), production centres, galleries, festivals, distributors, artist-run centres, and other allied artists, organizations and associations.

ON.Fire 2010 is a 5-day bilingual conference and festival, featuring world-renowned Canadian keynote speakers Janet Cardiff with George Bures Miller (Berlin) and Rafael Lozano-Hemmer (Montreal), interactive discussions, panels, film screenings, live performances, and media art installations from the national and international media arts community at venues across Toronto. As a vital meeting place for independent media artists and cultural workers, ON.Fire 2010 will facilitate networking and collaboration between artists, organizations and the public to develop supportive community partnerships, dialogue and exchange. The title of the conference suggests the need to fire up the imagination around current and emerging social, cultural and political conditions affecting the independent media arts communities!
