OPP and Wapekeka First Nation members recognized for saving a life – Tbnewswatch.com

A police constable and two community members received commendations.

SIOUX LOOKOUT, Ont. — Ontario Provincial Police say one of their officers and Wapekeka First Nation residents worked together to save a life in the community 600 kilometres north of Thunder Bay.

The incident happened on May 24, 2019.

According to an OPP news release, Constable Jean Duguay took “extraordinary measures” to gain entry to a residence on the First Nation and attend to the lone occupant who was found not breathing.

Police said Duguay’s efforts were made possible by assistance from band councillor Clifford Beardy and neighbour Dwayne Brown.
