Details about a meeting between the Prince Albert Grand Council (PAGC) and Prince Albert Police Service (PAPS) are expected to be made public within the next week, after the two parties gathered to discuss a video that surfaced on social media last week showing an Indigenous man being taken down by a police officer.

In a statement, PAGC called for the meeting between the organization, the mayor and P.A. police.

“We are disturbed by the use of force used by the officer in the video. It is hard to see our Indigenous people treated aggressively like this, and I have serious questions about what happened and why it happened this way,” Grand Chief Brian Hardlotte said in a statement.

The Prince Albert Police Service defended its officers’ actions. According to police in a statement, the officers were responding to a recent call outside a local business where there was a report of a man attempting to fight multiple people in the area.
