Park Re-Opening, Kids Stage & Reconciliation Ceremony to Highlight Canada Day – City of Prince Albert

Prince Albert, Sk. – Kinsmen Park will be the focal point of Canada 150 celebrations this weekend in Prince Albert. The Prince Albert Multicultural Council, in conjunction with the City of Prince Albert and Royal Canadian Legion Branch #2 have planned a celebration that will begin Friday, June 30th and run through Canada’s 150th birthday Saturday, July 1.

Friday’s events include live entertainment, the grand re-opening of Kinsmen Park and conclude at dusk with fireworks! Entertainers Laura Lee McFarlane, Black Rain, All Mighty Voice and Barbargo are lined up to be on the Kinette Amphitheatre stage starting at 5:00 PM Friday. At 7:30, there will be a brief ceremony to celebrate the recent improvements to Kinsmen Park. Fireworks will cap Friday’s schedule at dusk.

Saturday, July 1 will feature entertainment from Noon to Dusk at the Kinette Amphitheatre as well as a special SHAW Kids Stage. The Royal Canadian Legion Branch #2 will begin Canada Day like they have since 1968 with the presentation of the colours at Noon followed by opening ceremonies. On-stage entertainment includes Ryan & Bob Spracklin, The Amundson Family, The Hart Family, Goodfella’s, Rewind, The Bushpies and Soulfather. At 6:00 PM July 1st, there will be a Community Reconciliation Ceremony as hosted by the Prince Albert Grand Council. The weekend will conclude with more fireworks at dusk.

All entertainment and most of the activities are FREE! There will be thousands of free give-aways of Canada 150 souvenirs and toys, primarily by the SHAW Kids Stage as supported by many of the grants received for this event.

The expanded Canada 150 celebrations are made possible by the support of Canadian Heritage, Northern Lights Community Development Corporation, SHAW, Northern Lights Casino, Prince Albert Multicultural Council, City of Prince Albert, Royal Canadian Legion Branch #2, Prince Albert & Area Community Foundation, Community Foundations of Canada, Prince Albert Municipal Cultural Action Plan, Multicultural Council of Saskatchewan, Institute for Canadian Citizenship, SaskTel and SaskEnergy.
