Phillip hopes to add some orange to Valley – The Daily Courier

Joan Phillip was acclaimed the NDP candidate for the Central Okanagan-Similkameen-Nicola riding in the 2019 federal election at a riding association nomination meeting attended by close to 40 people Saturday at the Westside Learning Lab.

“It’s important we have some really good, smart and caring members of parliament in our area,” Phillip said about her decision to run. “I think it’s about time we put a little orange in the area.”

Phillip is a Penticton Indian Band councillor, but said having more indigenous representation in the federal government isn’t as important as people might think.

“Issues that we’re facing are not just indigenous issues,” she said “It impacts all of us.”
