Premier removes Fred Schell’s Ministerial Portfolios
March 11, 2012
Premier Eva Aariak today released the following statement:
“I have recently been informed by Government of Nunavut officials that Mr. Schell has acted in conflict of interest and abused his authority as Minister.
Therefore, effective immediately, I have removed Minister Fred Schell’s ministerial portfolios, including Human Resources, Nunavut Housing Corporation and Minister responsible for Homelessness, and the Workers’ Safety and Compensation
Commission. To hold ministerial portfolios in the executive council is a position of utmost trust and privilege, and it is my responsibility to ensure that the Executive Council is held to the highest standard.
At the discretion of full caucus, Minister Schell will continue to sit on the executive council. His portfolios have been reassigned.”
Attached is a copy of the portfolio reassignments.
