Premier’s Awards for Teaching Excellence Nominations Are Now Open

Nominate a special teacher who has made a positive, long-lasting impact on your school community.

We are pleased to announce that nominations for the second annual Premier’s Awards for Teaching Excellence are now open. The Awards recognize and celebrate outstanding teachers in British Columbia who have made exceptional contributions to benefit their school and improve student achievement.The Premier’s Awards are open to all teachers who are currently teaching within the BC K–12 public, independent or band school systems. Awards will be given in the following categories:

Literacy
Healthy Living and/or Physical Education & Coaching
Environmental Awareness
Distributed Learning
Aboriginal Learning
School Leadership
Community Engagement
Skills Training & Career Preparation
Beginning Teacher (0-5 Years)
Lifetime Achievement (20+ Years)

Nominations are welcome from all BC citizens, including students, parents, teachers, administrators, trustees and community organizations. The deadline for nominations is November 21, 2008.

Teachers are vital to the cultural, economic and social well-being of the province. Government is proud to have awards that recognize the enormous contributions of BC’s most outstanding teachers.
