MONTREAL _ The leaders of Quebec’s four main political parties will participate in an English-language debate ahead of the provincial election scheduled for Oct. 1.
The debate, scheduled for Sept. 17 at the Radio-Canada studios in Montreal, will be the province’s first one televised in English.
A Quebec media partnership says it will be broadcast on several media platforms, with format and moderator details to follow later.
The four leaders _ Liberal Premier Philippe Couillard, Jean-Francois Lisee of the Parti Quebecois, Francois Legault of the Coalition Avenir Quebec and Manon Masse of Quebec solidaire _ had indicated a few weeks ago that they were willing to hold a debate in English.
A French-language debate has already been scheduled for Sept. 13.
