Festival ‘supports young Indigenous artists to have dreams’: Tim Myles

Tim Myles has a clear idea of where he wants to be in five years: directing feature films.

Just 25, the Toronto resident has already directed multiple music videos, with his latest collaboration with musician Indigo scheduled to have its world première at the imagineNATIVE film and arts festival, the largest of its kind in the world spotlighting Indigenous artists across all platforms.

In addition to video directing for artists affiliated with the likes of Island Records and OVO, Myles has directed short films and is putting the finishing touches on the script for a project he intends to shoot this fall.

“It’s about a strange family which reunites to bury their family dog,” Myles explained over coffee Tuesday in his home neighbourhood of Little Italy.
