Riverfest! 2007 Ready to Make Waves at Pinhey’s Point

Ottawa – Visit Pinhey’s Point Historic Site on August 25 and 26, 2007 and celebrate Riverfest!, an annual event celebrating the rich history and traditions of the Ottawa River. The River has left an indelible mark on Ottawa and Riverfest! is the only event in the city that celebrates the Ottawa River, the people whose lives were shaped by it, and the river’s impact on the personality of the nation’s capital.

For the first time ever, Riverfest! kicks off early, starting Saturday night with a musical performance by the Wakami Wailers from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.Sunday also features plenty of live music and entertainment. Acts include Northern Voices, an aboriginal duo who sing original, Celtic and aboriginal songs, Freshwater Trade, a folk group that perform songs of the lumberjacks, great lakes sailors and dynamic peoples of early Canada, La Ridaine, who sing traditional Quebecois folk songs and the Paddling Puppeteer, who will present a puppet show on the importance of the Ottawa River’s ecology and the natural history of Ontario’s shorelines.

Events for Sunday also include Big Joe Lumberjack Show, Becky Mason’s canoe ballet, canoe rides, geoheritage tours, exhibits and presentations by the Aboriginal Resources Centre and the Ottawa Archaeological Centre and much more.
