WHAT: Spreading the Gospel of Native Literature: A First Nation Writer’s tale of Traveling from the Rez to the World. Celebrated Canadian author Drew Hayden Taylor explores the role of Indigenous voices in Canadian art and culture and shares stories from his own personal journey. This event complements the ROM’s current exhibition Anishinaabeg: Art & Power.

WHO: Drew Hayden Taylor was born, raised, and lives on the Curve Lake First Nation in Central Ontario. An award-winning playwright, novelist, journalist, and filmmaker, his professional career ranges from performing stand up comedy at the Kennedy Center in Washington D.C. to being Artistic Director of Canada’s premier Indigenous theatre company, Toronto-based Native Earth Performing Arts. Drew’s 30th book, Take Us to Your Chief and Other Stories was published in October 2016.

WHEN: Tuesday, September 19 at 7:00 pm (doors open at 6:30 pm)
