SNC-Lavalin (TSX: SNC) was awarded two Gold Awards at the 2015 Canadian Council for Public-Private Partnerships’ (CCPPP) National Awards Gala in Toronto. The first award recognizes the company’s excellence and innovation in the project financing area for the Eglinton Crosstown LRT project in Toronto, Ontario; the second award recognizes the effective procurement for the New Champlain Bridge Corridor project in Montreal, Quebec.
SNC-Lavalin’s participation to the Eglinton Crosstown Light Rail Transit (LRT) project is as part of the Crosslinx Transit Solutions consortium, along with ACS Infrastructure Canada Inc., Aecon Concessions and EllisDon. The consortium was selected by the Government of Ontario to provide the design, build, finance, and 30-year maintenance and rehabilitation for this project. The Crosstown is part of a $5.3-billion investment in integrated transportation and transit in the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area made by the Government of Ontario in 2010.
“We are proud that our project was recognized amongst a series of great Canadian projects,” said Chantal Sorel, Managing Director, Capital, SNC-Lavalin. “Together with our partners, we demonstrated our capabilities to contribute our significant expertise in the LRT sector and deliver a vital, sustainable and affordable rapid transit solution. The Crosstown will improve traffic congestion along one of Metro Toronto’s key arteries and enhance the quality of life in the surrounding communities.”
SNC-Lavalin’s participation to the $4.2-billion New Champlain Bridge Corridor project is a part of the Signature on the Saint-Laurent Group consortium, comprised of SNC-Lavalin Inc., ACS Infrastructure Canada and Hochtief. The consortium was selected by the Government of Canada for the design, build, finance, operation, maintenance and rehabilitation of the new Champlain Bridge.
Signature on the Saint-Laurent Group will operate and maintain the bridge for the duration of the concession period until October 2049.
“Receiving such a prestigious award at this early stage of the New Champlain Bridge Corridor project is very motivating, added Ms. Sorel. We are thrilled to be part of this critical project for Canada and Quebec’s economy as well as for the millions of commuters that cross the bridge each year. This project will remain an iconic landmark for years to come.”
