TORONTO, Sept. 4

NEWS

At its meeting on August 26 2009, the South West LHIN Board approved a total of $2.4M for 2009/10 in one-time and base funding as part of its Urgent Priorities and Aging at Home initiatives. These initiatives and projects support the priorities identified in the LHIN’s Integrated Health Service Plan (IHSP) and will help to address health care pressures within the South West LHIN. Each initiative/project was assessed according to a number of factors including:

– merit as an investment;
– advancement of integration;
– actionable, sustainable and progresses health system directions;
– demonstrates partnerships as applicable; and
– aligned with provincial and LHIN priorities.

The allocations include 18 initiatives that represent either new programs or continuation of initiatives that have already proven successful, or the next phase of major initiatives. Many of the funded projects involve partnerships among health service providers, which the LHIN strongly encourages and supports. The attached backgrounder provides a complete list of projects, the lead health service provider and the amount allocated.

QUOTES

“The Board is very happy to see so many of our health service providers working together to achieve a common goal – better health outcomes for the residents of the South West LHIN,” said Norm Gamble, Chair, South West LHIN Board of Directors. “It is also very encouraging to see innovative projects achieving the results intended.”
