Spectra Energy Creates Aboriginal Awards to Mark Anniversary

The University of Northern British Columbia will be welcoming representatives of Spectra Energy Transmission to campus on Tuesday, May 29, to announce the creation of new student awards. The awards will mark the company’s 50th year of operations in British Columbia.The announcement will take place at 1:00pm in the Bentley Centre and involve the creation of one-time bursaries for aboriginal students. About 10% of UNBC’s students are Aboriginal, the highest proportion of any university in British Columbia.

Spectra Energy is involved with the gathering, processing, transmission, storage, and distribution of natural gas. Headquartered in Houston, TX, the company has 7300 employees. In British Columbia, the company has also been known as Westcoast Energy and Duke Energy.
