Stephane Friday – Kashechewan Cree First Nation
Stephane Friday, of the Kashechewan Cree First Nation, is a community youth advocate and was recently elected to the Kashechewan council on August 2, 2018. He discusses new youth initiatives in northern Ontario.
Friday speaks of the Feathers of Hope, a youth-driven movement dedicated to the empowerment of First Nations youth. He speaks a little about the program’s outreach activities and sustainable direction before speaking on the topics of issues in the communities he works within. Stephane speaks about the issues posed by alcohol, drugs and crisis situations and how we need to break the cycle of intergenerational trauma by replacing such issues with traditional and ancestral teachings.
Friday also continues to speak on the government’s implementation of truth and reconciliation through his perspective and more.
