Pine Point Bridge traffic is now being diverted over the old CN rail bridge as construction begins on the bridge on Highway 5 near the turnoff to Kátł’odeeche First Nation.
A stoplight – which has already surprised a few people – is controlling traffic over the single-lane rail bridge.
The rail bridge is just 4.5 metres wide.

The new bridge will be 10 metres wide and will have an open deck, similar to the Hay River West Channel Bridge.
