Logan Constituency Office and the West Alexander Residents Association (WARA) collaborated to host its first Teen Internship, Mentoring and Work Experience Fair on Nov. 22.

Some 140 selected students (Grade 10 to 12) from five schools within the Logan constituency attended the fair. There were 10 employers and eight not-for profit community organizations in attendance, with whom the students interacted. The students were accompanied by their schools’ principals or guidance counsellors.

Ms. Buffy Handel, a young, successful award-winning entrepreneur and founder of the internationally-recognized Aboriginal School of Dance provided an inspiring and informative keynote speech at the event. An accomplished dancer, choreographer and educator, Ms. Handel was awarded the Queen Elizabeth II golden Jubilee Medal for her contribution and accomplishments in the area of cultural education and her commitment to youth development.
