Payroll employment, earnings and hours, November 2019
The average weekly earnings of non-farm payroll employees were $1,042 in November, little changed from October. On a year-over-year basis, earnings grew 3.1%, continuing an upward trend observed since March.
Spending on research and development, 2017 (final), 2018 (preliminary) and 2019 (intentions)
Canada’s gross domestic expenditures on research and development (GERD) reached $35.7 billion in 2017, up 2.0% from the previous year. The increase was mainly tied to a rise in research and development (R&D) expenditures in the higher education sector, which advanced 3.8% to $14.3 billion.

Repair and maintenance services, 2018
In 2018, firms in the repair and maintenance subsector generated $31.7 billion in operating revenue, up 5.6% from 2017. This was the strongest growth in the last five years. However, operating profit margins eased from 8.9% in 2017 to 8.5% in 2018.
Monthly civil aviation statistics, November 2019
The six Canadian Level I air carriers flew 6.1 million passengers on scheduled and charter services in November, up 0.9% from November 2018. This represents the first year-over-year monthly increase after four consecutive declines. There was a 0.1% decrease in October 2019. November marked the lowest monthly volume of passengers by these carriers combined, as was the case the previous four years.
Aircraft movement statistics: Major airports, November 2019
Aircraft take-offs and landings at Canadian airports with NAV CANADA air traffic control towers and flight service stations increased 1.0% in November. Combined, 90 airports reported 433,312 movements, compared with 91 airports reporting 429,144 movements in November 2018.
Monthly Passenger Bus and Urban Transit, November 2019
Total operating revenues (excluding subsidies) for urban transit companies were $362.8 million in November, up 7.1% from November 2018.
Poultry and egg statistics, January 2020
Data on stocks of frozen eggs and poultry meats, as well as edible dried egg products, are available for January. Data on the placements of hatchery chicks and turkey poults are available for December 2019. Data on egg production are available for November 2019.
