Canada’s international transactions in securities, February 2017
Foreign investment in Canadian securities reached a record high $38.8 billion in February, led by issuances of new Canadian shares to non-resident investors. At the same time, Canadian investors acquired $6.3 billion of foreign securities, mainly US instruments.
Estimates of multifactor productivity growth in the provinces, 2015
Multifactor productivity in the business sector, measured as real gross domestic product (GDP) per unit of combined labour and capital inputs, declined in Newfoundland and Labrador, Quebec and the Prairie provinces in 2015. It increased in Ontario, British Columbia and the Maritimes.
Investment in non-residential building construction, first quarter 2017
Investment in non-residential building construction totalled $12.3 billion in the first quarter, down 0.5% from the previous quarter. This marked the sixth decrease in seven quarters. Nationally, the decline largely reflected lower spending on the construction of institutional buildings and, to a lesser extent, on the construction of industrial buildings.
Supply and disposition of refined petroleum products, January 2017
Canadian refineries received 8.7 million cubic metres of crude oil in January, up 4.7% from the same month in 2016.
