Manufacturing sales were down 0.2% to $56.1 billion in January, the fifth consecutive monthly decline.
Canada’s international transactions in securities, January 2020
Foreign investors acquired $17.0 billion of Canadian securities in January. Meanwhile, Canadian investors reduced their holdings of foreign securities by $9.1 billion, following acquisitions of $13.8 billion in December 2019.
Study: Introducing a new integrated dataset for research on intergenerational mobility
New estimates of intergenerational mobility confirm that the income of adult Canadians is related to the income their families had when they were children. Among Canadians born between 1963 and 1979 to parents with an income in the bottom income quintile, 31.9% remained in the bottom income quintile as adults (aged 30 to 34), while 10.0% reached the top income quintile.
Data tables for the Gender Results Framework
Statistics Canada’s Centre for Gender, Diversity and Inclusion Statistics has produced two new data tables related to the level of education and field of study, based on data from the 2016 Census of Population. These statistics will be used by the Gender Results Framework, a whole-of-government tool designed to track gender equality in Canada.
Launch of Culture Statistics Portal
Today, Statistics Canada is proud to launch a new Culture Statistics Portal. This portal brings together data on the arts, culture, heritage and sports sectors and presents the information in a single interactive website. This site makes it easier for users to find and analyze the wealth of information that Statistics Canada and other Government of Canada sources produce on a broad range of culture-related areas.
Canada’s international trade and investment country fact sheet
Today, Statistics Canada launches the “Canada’s international trade and investment country fact sheet.” This product brings together key statistics on Canada’s trade and investment relationship with more than 240 countries or jurisdictions.
