Canada’s balance of international payments, first quarter 2018
Canada’s current account deficit (on a seasonally adjusted basis) rose by $3.0 billion in the first quarter to $19.5 billion. In the financial account (unadjusted for seasonal variation), foreign direct investment activity was the largest contributor to the inflow of funds in the economy in the quarter.
Industrial product and raw materials price indexes, April 2018
The Industrial Product Price Index increased 0.5% in April, mainly due to higher prices for energy and petroleum products. The Raw Materials Price Index rose 0.7%, primarily due to higher prices for crude energy products.
Food availability, 2017
Total fresh fruit available, including citrus, fell 1.9% from 2016 to 77.1 kilograms per person in 2017. However, this was up 5.4% from a decade earlier.
Railway carloadings, March 2018
The volume of rail freight carried in Canada totalled 31.8 million tonnes in March, up 0.1% from March 2017.
Aircraft movement statistics: Major airports, March 2018
There were 458,844 aircraft take-offs and landings at the 91 Canadian airports with NAV CANADA air traffic control towers and flight service stations in March, compared with 421,525 movements in March 2017, an increase of 8.9%.
