The Government of Canada Endorses 2010 Winter Games Volunteer Program
OTTAWA, February 12, 2008 – The Vancouver Organizing Committee for the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games (VANOC) today unveiled its plan to recruit the more than 25 000 volunteers required to help deliver the 2010 Winter Games.
“Volunteerism brings people together, strengthens communities, and contributes to our quality of life,” said the Honourable David Emerson, Minister of International Trade and Minister for the Pacific Gateway and the Vancouver-Whistler Olympics. “Canadians who join the 2010 Winter Games Team as volunteers will be part of an unforgettable experience. When the Games are over, they will all feel tremendous pride as they think to themselves: I was there and I helped make these the best Games ever!”This is the chance of a lifetime to join the team of volunteers as Canada prepares to welcome the world in 2010. VANOC is looking for enthusiasm, dedication, and a commitment to the values of teamwork, trust, excellence, sustainability, and creativity.
