The Government of Canada Extends Application Period for Building Communities Through Arts and Heritage Program
OTTAWA, September 3, 2008 – The Honourable Josée Verner, Minister of Canadian Heritage and Status of Women and Minister for La Francophonie, today announced that the deadline to submit applications for funding for next year under the Building Communities Through Arts and Heritage program has been extended to September 30, 2008. The previous deadline was September 1, 2008.”Given the strong success of this program, our Government is proud to extend the application period to allow a greater number of organizations to take advantage of what this program has to offer,” said Minister Verner.
The new Building Communities Through Arts and Heritage program, announced in September 2007, provides Canadians with more opportunities to take part in local activities that present arts and culture and celebrate local history and heritage.
The Government of Canada is committed to building stronger communities and to providing all Canadians with opportunities to get involved in their communities and in celebrating Canadian arts and heritage.
