An enormous theatrical production is taking place for four days this week and next week at the Mississauga First Nation Powwow Grounds.

The Rivers Speak Community Play is so large it takes place outdoors. However, the backdrop, the shore of the Blind River, works well with the production. The play runs from Sept. 6 to 9 and from Sept. 13 to 16 at 6 p.m.

The project was led by Thinking Rock Community Arts, which is based in Thessalon.

The Rivers Speak has a cast of about 50, plus a crew of approximately 15 professionals, along with musicians and those creating the sets, as well as the costumes and regalia, says Robin Sutherland, an artistic director with the play.
