Thunder Bay police are investigating the discovery of a body that was found in a river Thursday, days after the disappearance of a teenage boy.

The Ontario Provincial Police underwater search and recovery unit found the body in the McIntyre River near Island Dr. just before 6 p.m. They have not been able to confirm the person’s identity but said the deceased was male. There are fears that the body could be that of Josiah Begg, a 14-year-old who was last seen on May 6.

Police had been in the river as part of the ongoing search for Begg.
