TI: Corrections Reform – Inuit Engagement (English)
THE ONTARIO GOVERNMENT WOULD LIKE TO HEAR FROM INUIT COMMUNITY MEMBERS ON CORRECTIONS REFORM
Ontario’s Independent Advisor on Corrections Reform released a report on the use of segregation in Ontario correctional facilities in May 2017. The ministry has committed to addressing all of the recommendations in the report and introducing new legislation in Fall 2017.
We welcome Inuit perspectives on key recommendations put forward by the Independent Advisor.
We also welcome valuable Inuit perspectives on other key areas of corrections reform that should be included in legislation.
We will be hosting an engagement session on Thursday, August 24, 2017 from 4:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. at 297 Savard Ave, Ottawa ON. Materials and discussion will be translated to Pigiarniq.
Refreshments will be provided. Travel costs and childcare will be covered.
If you require accommodation under the Ontario Human Rights Code to participate (e.g., medical (including allergies), sign language interpretation, large print material etc.) please e-mail MCSCSinput@ontario.ca.
