Re: Case Management Training

Please be advised that the Chiefs of Ontario are pleased to announce that we are coordinating training sessions in regards to the DVD’s that were officially launched on March 30th. The DVD’s were created specifically for First Nations communities that offer programs under community support services. They will serve as an important visual tool for First Nation communities and workers that deal with issues such as palliative care, end of life and case management. The DVD’s were not designed to be viewed independently. Each DVD comes with a discussion guide that will teach support workers how to interpret the content of the DVD’s as well as to acquire the skills necessary to facilitate discussion groups with colleagues and clients. For this reason, we would like to offer training sessions that will teach support workers first hand how to facilitate this learning and ultimately to improve their understanding and efficiency when interacting with clients who are dealing with these issues. We are pleased to offer two sessions (you choose which date is best for you):

May 21 & 22, 2008
May 28 & 29, 2008
These sessions will be located at:

The McMaster Centre for Continuing Education
50 Main Street East
Hamilton, Ontario
L8S 4L8

Every First Nation that currently receives funding for Community Support Services will receive a cheque in the mail from Chiefs of Ontario. This cheque is a subsidy for 1 (one) individual to attend the training. This subsidy is for return travel, meals and incidentals. We will cover the costs of accommodations which will be booked and direct billed through us. We apologize in advance, but extra funds will not be dispersed to cover expenses above the subsidy rate. First Nations that do not send a representative to the training must reimburse Chiefs of Ontario for the exact amount of the subsidy. Please send all registration/contact information to Marla Monague, Health Administrative Support at or fax to (416) 597-8365 on or before May 13, 2008. We look forward to seeing you at the training sessions.
