Emery Village BIA propose park to share history of Indigenous people

Plans for Toronto’s first First Nations Park will soon come before the city.

Emery Village Business Improvement Area (BIA) proposed the park to educate the public about the history of Indigenous peoples, on land occupied by a hydro right-of-way south of Finch Avenue West on the east side of Weston Road.

Recently, Hydro One officials stated they will review the BIA’s $4-million plans, which the three First Nations communities approved.

“The first Indigenous park will be in Ward 7. I’m very happy about that,” York West Coun. Giorgio Mammoliti, who represents the area, said at the July 4 meeting of Etobicoke York community council.
