Eskasoni RCMP started an investigation into drug trafficking in the area on July 11. At 11:35 a.m. that day, they located the truck that was driven by one of the suspects in the matter on Highland Rd. in Christmas Island. As the vehicle was slowing down, the passenger threw something out of the window. The vehicle was stopped and the driver and passenger were arrested for drug possession. Police located and seized the item that was thrown from the vehicle and found that it was a package containing a significant quantity of pills, including Percocet and Hydromorphone.

Shaelene Paul, 25, of Eskasoni, and George Andrew Jeddore, 43, of Eskasoni, have each been charged with two counts of Possession of a Controlled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking. Paul was held for court and remanded until July 24. Jeddore was held in custody overnight and released on conditions. He is scheduled to return to court on August 13.

The investigation is ongoing and the Eskasoni RCMP continue to request assistance from the public to address issues related to illicit drug use in the area. To report suspicious activity, call Eskasoni RCMP at 902-379-2822.
