A mobile mental health crisis response team will be available to four First Nations communities surrounding London starting Friday.
Thanks to funds from the provincial and federal governments, the Chippewas of the Thames First Nation, Aamjiwnaang First Nation, Kettle and Stony Point First Nation and Munsee-Delaware Nation have worked together to provide mental health services to people in those communities.
Heather Nicholas, a program manager at the Chippewa Health Centre, said a service like this has been badly needed in the communities.
“We’ve never had this commitment for us,” she said. “This is unique and groundbreaking and has been needed for a long time.”
