Upcoming talk reflects on missing and murdered Indigenous women and girls – Brock News

The Centre for Canadian Studies is hosting a talk on colonial history and the National Inquiry into Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls on Thursday, Feb. 27.

Robyn Bourgeois, Assistant Professor with the Centre for Women’s and Gender Studies, will be speaking on Indigenous women’s political anti-violence leadership in Canada since the 1980s.

Bourgeois, who testified as an experiential and expert witness on sexual exploitation and human trafficking at the Inquiry into Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls and 2SLGBTQQIAS people, will share her personal experiences and research.

Her talk will also consider ways Brock University’s Decolonial Reading Circle is attempting to disrupt the established colonial, social and political patterns.
