US Business Mission Visits Yukon

WHITEHORSE – The Government of Yukon Department of Economic Development, in partnership with the Yukon Chamber of Commerce and the US Department of Commerce hosted a business mission earlier this week. The mission, which concluded Wednesday, was designed to support Yukon companies seeking new joint business or export opportunities.

“Yukon government is working to facilitate increased exports of Yukon products and services,” Economic Development Minister Jim Kenyon said. “This visit supports efforts of Yukon companies to identify joint new business-to-business opportunities.”US Department of Commerce representatives accompanied six US companies on the business mission. The schedule of activities included meetings with the Yukon Chamber of Commerce, several Yukon business operations, Yukon government officials, and representatives of the City of Whitehorse.

“The Yukon Chamber of Commerce was pleased to be a partner in this business mission,” says Chamber of Commerce Chair Rob McIntyre. “The Yukon government continues to assist the chamber in its efforts to improve the climate for new business in the Yukon and we look forward to more initiatives like this in the future.”

The companies that visited Yukon were: Aero-Metric Inc., Frank Coluccio Construction, Mount Vernon Building Center, Lanworth, Transform LLC and State of Mississippi, Development Authority.

The Department of Economic Development works with the Yukon business community, First Nations, and other governments to support business development, trade and investment opportunities, and partnerships for the development of the Yukon economy.
