Vancouver’s newest library location opening April 19
VANCOUVER, B.C. – Vancouver’s newest library location – the nə́c̓aʔmat ct Strathcona branch on East Hastings – is set to open on the afternoon of April 19.
Over the next week, library staff will be finishing the move-in and readying the space to welcome the community.
Public opening is set for: Wednesday, April 19, at 1 p.m.
VPL’s new branch at 730 East Hastings St. is roughly 11,000 square feet, making it one of the largest branches in the city’s library system.
nə́c̓aʔmat ct Strathcona branch features diverse public spaces, including a digital creation space and Internet access; flexible meeting, programming, and community gathering spaces; and a diverse collection of books, DVDs, magazines and newspapers in English and other languages.
A highlight event at the branch on the evening of April 19 is the VPL aboriginal storyteller in residence, Jules Koostachin, who will host local aboriginal performers and read from her developing memoir, Moccasin Souls.
