Anyone who works with children and families is invited to attend the Pathway to Truth and Reconciliation conference Nov. 23 and 24 at Okanagan College’s Vernon campus.
While the Truth and Reconciliation Commission’s calls to action come out of the mistreatment of Aboriginal children in the Indian residential schools system, the conference aims to provide early childhood educators with tools and ideas to help all kids.
“We want to provide this information for people who are working with children and families in the community and those who want to know about the land they live and work on,” said Leola McMillan, who chairs the North Okanagan branch of the Early Childhood Educators of B.C.
“Usually, you have to go to Vancouver for these types of conferences, but we are really proud that we have so many local Indigenous leaders to showcase.”
