FROM VISION TO REALITY: VISION QUEST CONFERENCE
Winnipeg MB – With the 12th annual Vision Quest Conference happening May 13 to 15 at the Winnipeg Convention Centre, organizers are gearing up for an educational, informative and entertaining Youth Program at this year’s event.TUESDAY, MAY 13
Special event for youth:
�� Youth Reception and Dance Party with DJ Hooligan and Reddnation (6:00pm to 10:00pm) – Reddnation is one of Canada’s top rap groups, representing Edmonton, AB and Regina, SK. They draw from their Aboriginal backgrounds to create a hybrid of hip-hop and cultural values which translates into music that is fresh, original, and exciting. In a league of their own, their music has brought them many accolades from the Canadian Aboriginal music industry making them the most decorated Native hip-hop group in the country with numerous nominations and awards for their work.
WEDNESDAY, MAY 14
Youth workshop topics:
�� Anti-Gang Awareness (10:45am to 12:15pm) – Presented by Reddnation �� C.E.P.S. Culture / Economic / Social / Political (1:30pm to 3:00pm) – Presented by the Assembly of Manitoba Chiefs
�� Choosing A Career Path (1:30pm to 3:00pm) – Presented by Young Entrepreneurs of Manitoba
Special events for youth:
�� Aboriginal Business Plan Competition (12:15pm to 1:15pm) – Presented by the Aboriginal Business Service Network, this luncheon and awards ceremony recognizes the Best Business Plan (team and individual) and Best Business Start (planning/operating an actual business). Awards are open to students in Grade 9-12, with cash prizes of $500 – $1000 awarded to the winning schools.
�� Graffiti Art Programming (10:45am to 4:00pm) – The Graffiti Gallery will present Mural In A Day workshops, which take place over the course of the conference. The goal is to create one mural each day. Both youth and adult delegates will have the opportunity to participate and explore their artistic side.
�� Kigeet: Multimedia presentation featuring Adam Beach (3:30pm to 5:00pm) – Produced and written by Chris Beach, Kigeet is a touring multimedia stage play meant to bring awareness to suicide prevention. The presentation features a special “live” performance by Adam Beach, as he interacts with “taped” performances by Don Burnstick, Joy Keeper, Rose Marsden, and others.
THURSDAY, MAY 15

�� Alcohol Awareness and Goal Setting (10:30am to 12:00pm) – presented by Reddnation
�� Aboriginal Career Showcase (10:30am to 12:00pm) – Aboriginal Chamber of Commerce
�� Presentation of Essays (1:30pm to 3:00pm) – RBC Foundation Scholarship Awards
�� Aboriginal Student Support Services (1:30pm to 3:00pm) – Post Secondary School Presentations
Special event for youth:
