Vuntut Gwitchin’s, Council of Yukon First Nations split not surprising: ex-premier

The Council of Yukon First Nations is keeping quiet about the departure of one of its member First Nations, but at least one former politician said news of the split should not have come as a surprise to the council.

CYFN Grand Chief Andy Carvill did not comment Wednesday to news that the Vuntut Gwitchin First Nation of Old Crow, Yukon, is severing political ties with the council, a central political organization that has represented 15 First Nations for the past 35 years.
