Wauzhushk Onigum voice concerns around latest water and sewage agreement with Kenora – Daily Miner
November 18, 2019
Wauzhushk Onigum Nation leadership is voicing concerns over a water service agreement proposed to the First Nation from the city of Kenora, saying that it gives the city more power over the First Nation and it is not the partnership they believed they were entering into.
Chris Skead, chief of Wauzhushk Onigum First Nation, and the community’s consultant Norman Jaehrling, addressed city council on Tuesday, Nov. 12.

Last November, Indigenous Services Canada agreed to cover the full cost of the operation, and committed $7.2 million in funding towards the design and construction.
