May 8th, 2019

Ktunaxa peoples from across the region will decide if the First Nation should become its own self-sufficient government with the power to formally recognize its own citizens.

The First Nation announced the referendum in late March, saying that it will help to establish a citizenship code that will help to clearly and formally identify who the citizens of the Ktunaxa Nation are.

Following several methods of early voting in recent weeks, general voting day is Wednesday, May 8th.

From 9:00 am to 7:00 pm, polls will be open at the following locations:

  • Ktunaxa Nation Council:
    • Government Building – 220 Cranbrook Street North, Cranbrook
