The weekend of May 30 proved to be a very busy one at the White Bear Lake Golf Course. The course, which is situated on the White Bear First Nations in the White Bear Lake Resort, was opened on May 15, but operating under the COVID-19 provisions that had been put in place by White Bear First Nations Chief and Council. The provisions were put in place from April 7 until May 30.

The 18-hole White Bear Lake Golf Course and staff, which offers some of the finest conditions for golfers anywhere in Saskatchewan, was well prepared for the influx of golfers that were anxiously waiting to play the challenging links.

Club Professional and Course Manager Gord Petker was very pleased to be back to the “new normal” that all courses in the province are under now. Petker, who resides in Ontario for the winter, was subject to 14 days of quarantine upon his return to White Bear Resort in mid-April.

The season opened May 15, allowing only permanent residents of the resort and citizens of White Bear First Nations to golf. Courses were allowed to open under the Saskatchewan Governments reopening strategy and it was a wait and see what the planned opening weekend would bring to the White Bear Resort and White Bear Golf Course. The community of White Bear First Nations, White Bear Lake cottagers and the many patrons of the popular vacation destination, were anxiously awaiting the opening of both the resort and its many facilities.
